Today was my first day of work. I definately have a lot to learn about being a secratary. It was fun though. I got to take messages and talk to people. Like everyone else I made a mistake today. I answered the phone and there was a client on that could not speak English very well and the English that they did speak was so accented that I couldn't understand anything they said. After having them repeat the phone number 4 times I asked if my boss was busy (without putting the person on hold) and asked him to take the call. Afterwards he said that that was as bad as it wold ever get and that they were the exception to lthe rule. Man I was really glad for that.

When I transferred from one job to another I kept answering the phone with the old employer name a few times for the first couple of weeks. It was a little embarassing. Love uncle from Maine

Accents can be tough. I have to sometimes takes product order over the phone from some of the bush communities up here where they can with a heavy Native accent - Yupik or Inupiat usually. I have to slow down and really concentrate. Alaska Natives are luckily very patient and kind hearted people and I get it right eventually! Love ya!
